From Youth Engagement to Youth Integration

In a previous blog post I wrote about the beginnings of the Civil Society and Testing Change (CS&TC) project.  This post shares our experiences last month with our first themed roundtable in New York City exploring the concept of better engaging youth in decision-making, or pushing the paradigm from engagement to integration.

Global-Local Linkages

Last week I facilitated a roundtable on the topic of global-local linkages: how global trends are affecting our local work, and how we are learning to incorporate global perspectives better into our work.  Some of the global trends identified by participants included:

  • Although every generation is multifaceted, some of the traits millennials are bringing to the workplace were identified as being comfortable with the world and with technology, crossing (different types of) boundaries easily, and looking for impact from their work more than previous generations.

Operating effective organizations

Last week I was one of a number of multinational presenters at the first inaugural Middle East Association Congress.  The event brought together a thoughtful and inquisitive group that explored various components of organizational development, and creating impact through them, in two days of formal and informal discussions.

Some of the themes of these discussions that I found most interesting included:
